I live in Chester. My BELOVED daddy "James C. (Jake) Grant helped build the park. He was in the 3C's program after ww 2. I love this quaint park.
This State Park is wonderful, as all our State Parks in the state of South Carolina have been. There are only 25 sites which makes it quiet, and peaceful. Great fishing spots, friendly neighbors, and the park ranger was so nice and full of information for our first stay here. Fishing on the bridge and out pier at our site was great, we can't wait to go back and do it all over again. Thank you for keeping the sites so clean, updated electrical boxes, nice picnic tables and gravel sites. We enjoyed our 3 days fully!!!
Gorgeous park! Has a beautiful lake (river?) with a little ramp for boating. Has two disc golf courses. Absolutely beautiful. Great place to hike or camp.
Wonderfully peaceful on my visit. I witnessed a few catfish being landed in a short period of time from the walkway. There is a nice playground area for children and a Disc Golf course. The entire park is beautifully maintained (they were painting the restroom exteriors when I was there). The camping area has all needed amenities.
When i told friends i was going to Chester State Park, no one new anything about it and would ask why. Now i can tell them about it . Its a peaceful quiet park to relax and enjoy. Its very simple to get campers in and out. The bathhouses were clean and well maintained. I even tried the disc golf course . Twice. The lake water was a little dirty but it had rained a lot before i arrived. Enjoyed taking boat out . I've never done that before. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Great 4 day experience !
